Our Story

Hi! I’m your host, Jon, and my wife Allie and I manage our properties at Sugar Bear Vacations. Allie and I met in 7th grade, and we quickly became friends. We started dating in high school, got married before our senior year of college, and have enjoyed over 10 years of marriage. At this point, we’ve shared almost half of our lives together, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As noted earlier, we both spent many summer trips in Branson and on Table Rock Lake growing up. We both went to college in Springfield, so it was easy for us to head down to Branson, Branson Landing, and Table Rock during our summer breaks. We love this area and consider Table Rock Lake as “our lake,” so buying a place here has been a long-term goal for us.

When we finally accomplished that goal in 2022, we wanted to show our appreciation to those who supported us along the way. The condo, Lizzy’s Landing, is named after Allie’s grandmother, a staple in her lake trips growing up. Our management company is named after our cat Duke, who we had to say goodbye to only a few months before purchasing our condo. Duke was the sweetest cat either of us has ever known, and he quickly earned the nickname Sugar Bear. As Allie’s grandmother was a staple in her life, Duke was a staple in ours from our Freshman year in college through early 2022. So in honor of Duke, we named our management company after him and display him prominently and proudly on our logo.

We’ve been hosting Lizzy’s Landing since the fall of 2022, and to be honest, it has been one of the most rewarding experience of my adult life. I thoroughly enjoy interacting with our guests, and am always looking for ways to improve your stay with us. You, our guests, are making this dream of ours a reality, and for that I thank you.
